After ten years back east in the discount retail store business I moved to San Diego to leave the uptight corporate life of a district manager behind. Also to see if I could apply what I had learned there and in collage in a practical and personal business of my own without the help of a corporate structure. I spent the next 18 years starting and growing an auto repair & service business which surpassed any goal I might have dreamed of at the beginning. The marketing plans I developed and the systems I used to provide customer service just got better and better over time and I was truly touched by the comments and good wishes of my 750 regular customers when I sold the business and moved here. I would probably still be there if it hadn't been for two things. One being that over the years the heavy lifting and odd angles that I had worked in had taken their toll and LITERALLY broken my back. The other was my Wife's desire to return to the pacific NW and her insistence that I would never be able to quit repairing cars entirely because I could never say NO to someone who needed my help. Through those years I invested in real estate with the profits from the shop and found an ability to put transactions together that truly satisfied all parties. Participants often said I should have "been in Real Estate" so after the operation to repair my back I did just that. I can honestly say it was the best business decision I ever made. Helping people attain their goals in a major financial transaction has a level of satisfaction that defies description. I could go on about the number of sales, or the dollar value of the transactions, or the membership in the million dollar club etc. But that would be telling you about my goals and frankly I'm more interested in your goals.
